Please join Temple Bethe El for this special Shabbat worship to begin our Swarsensky Memorial Weekend, a time of community learning in honor of the memory of Rabbi Manfred Swarsensky, who served as rabbi of Temple Beth El from 1940 to 1976 after escaping Nazi Germany in 1939. We will welcome Rabbi Lawrence A. Hoffman to speak at services.
During our service, Rabbi Hoffman will provide a short preview of his after-dinner talk by sharing a story he heard from a concentration-camp survivor, which he calls, “By Myself, I am a Prayer Book.”
Join us after worship for dinner and a continuation of Rabbi Hoffman’s d’var discussion: “This Is Your Life, American Jews—How We Pray Is Who We Are.”
