Cantor Steven Weiss is the Cantor and Director of Education at Congregation Sha’aray Shalom in Hingham, Massachusetts, and the project editor of Shirei Mishkan HeNefesh: An Anthology of Music for the High Holy Days (published by CCAR Press in 2015). He has developed innovative musical and educational programs for the entire congregation. His ever-popular Bible to Broadway, Friday Night Live Musical Shabbat, and Adult and Children’s Choirs have enriched the Jewish life of both children and adults.
In addition to his work within the Congregation, he is also a board member of the Young Leadership Division of Combined Jewish Philanthropies of Boston. He has served on the executive committee of the URJ Commission on Synagogue Management and is the President of the American Conference of Cantors. Before joining Congregation Sha’aray Shalom, he served at Temple Kol Emeth in Marietta, Georgia, for ten years, both as a student and a professional cantor. Prior to that, Cantor Weiss served as the Student Cantor at Temple B’nai Brith in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.
Cantor Weiss received his Master’s degree and investiture from Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion School of Sacred Music in May, 1996. Originally from Great Neck, New York, Cantor Weiss holds a Bachelor’s degree from Ithaca College where he studied Human Resource Management and Opera Performance at its esteemed music school.
Cantor Weiss is married to Dr. Stephanie Gertz. They have two children – Breanna and Micah.

Joel (Joe) Eglash's name is synonymous with quality and excellence. Musical artists and publishers know him as a jack-of-all-trades editor, arranger, designer, consultant, compositor, engraver, and publisher. He is a recognized authority in the Jewish music industry, both as a musician and publisher, and is a consultant of musical repertoire, marketing, and building congregational instrumental ensembles. As Director of Transcontinental Music Publications and Managing Director of URJ Press until late 2005, he has hundreds of publications to his credit. In 2015, he returned to Transcontinental Music (under American Conference of Cantors ownership), first as management consultant and now as Director, and is leading its efforts to rebuild and revitalize. Joe owns and operates Eglash Creative, a music and design firm specializing in music compositing, arranging, editing, and engraving, for the entertainment industry. In 2005, Joe created oySongs.com, a leading online source for Jewish music, and sold the company in 2012. His popular
T'filah Band and
T’filah Choir songbook series, containing arrangements of liturgical music for synagogue band and choir, was published by Tara Publications. Before earning his B.A. in Judaic Studies from Brooklyn College, he studied classical guitar with Jeffrey Van at the University of Minnesota. As a guitarist, multi-instrumentalist, and bandleader, Joe has led numerous popular rock, synagogue, and klezmer bands, and releases original rock recordings, in which he writes, sings, and plays all the instruments. He is active as an accompanist, arranger, and composer in Syracuse, New York, where he happily resides with his wife, Cantor Kari Siegel Eglash, and children, Arielle and Judah. He is a member of ASCAP and GTM, and a die-hard Green Bay Packers fan.
